In my current position as a mechanical design engineer and also a project leader at EKA KNORR BREMSE, my main role is to design new prototypes and test benches by writing suitable test procedures for the railway industry in the braking sector. My responsibilities and experience as a mechanical designer and project leader are: 1. Perform full lifecycle product development (Designing, drawing, and calculating test benches, modules, and parts according to drawn-up specifications and functional design). 2. Performing the necessary calculation for the projects, checks, and analysis with regard to the functionality, manufacturability, quality assurance, and reliability of the design of the raw production machines. 3. Drawing up the mechanical machine and component requirements. 4. Ensure efficient manufacturability of the machines in design and engineering. 5. Preparation of building books ( user and maintenance manual) 6. System design (schematics, 3D CAD - SolidWorks / Inventor /PTC Creo, technical documentation, BOM) and its input in Windchill 7. Preparing and carrying out design reviews together with other disciplines (departments). 8. Considering and determining the used material and dimension (fits, tolerance, and GD&T). 9. Working on improvements proposal and standardization of products and working methods. 10. Coordinate with suppliers and production partners. 12. Coordinate day-to-day activities in the engineering team and manufacturing department. 13. Occasionally traveling to clients’ production workshops and facilities to evaluate the foreseeability of production.
